Krissy Beecher - Teaching as a Profession

Krissy Beecher, Instructor, Teaching As A Profession

Krissy Beecher has always loved school and learning. From the time she was 5 years old, Krissy knew she wanted to be a teacher. She was fortunate to teach English at North Davis Junior High for 28 years. Besides English, she has also taught reading, choir, theater, yearbook, and Earth Systems. In 2008, Krissy was named the Utah English Teacher of the Year by the Utah Council of Teachers of English (UCTE). Following her teaching career, Krissy had a brief stint as an administrator. She was the Dean of Students at North Davis and an Administrative Intern at Viewmont High School.
When a teaching position opened at the Catalyst Center, Krissy couldn’t resist. She currently teaches the Teaching as a Profession class at the Catalyst Center and is the Secondary Literacy Specialist for Davis School District. Krissy has a bachelor's degree in English from Brigham Young University and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.

Krissy likes to travel, and her happy place is Disneyland. If she had different job, she would want to be a tour guide for Disney. One of her proudest accomplishments is that she has been married for 32 years. She and her husband Brian have 3 daughters, 1 son, 1 son-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, and the three most adorable grandchildren ever. Following in their mother’s footsteps, Krissy’s two oldest daughters are also teachers.

Krissy is thrilled to join the team of outstanding professionals at the Catalyst Center and hopes to inspire future teachers.
