Tim Allen, new Catalyst director, Fall 2025

When the Catalyst Center first opened its doors, I knew right away what a special place it was. As I worked with students in the district, they would share stories with me about the incredible experiences they were having and the unique approach to learning that was happening every day. However, it wasn’t until my own son had the opportunity to be a part of the school that I truly saw the impact Catalyst has on students. The experiences he had, the connections he made, and the confidence it gave him—as both a student and a future professional—were evident from his first day. It was truly a life-changing experience. Now, being part of Catalyst and helping other students have that same experience is a dream come true for me.

I grew up in Davis County and am a proud graduate of Bountiful High School. I attended Weber State University, earning a degree in Communications, and later pursued a Master’s Degree in School Counseling. Working as a counselor, first at Fairfield Jr. High and then at Layton High, was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Supporting students through their personal challenges and helping them graduate with a solid plan for life after high school was incredible. The students, families, and staff I worked with still mean the world to me.

I later moved into administration, serving as an Assistant Principal at North Davis Junior, Clearfield High, and most recently as part of the administrative team at Farmington High, where I had the unique opportunity to work within my own community and alongside my kids.

Being a part of Catalyst now brings together the best of both counseling and administration. I am passionate about helping students create meaningful plans for life after high school and ensuring they have the best educational experience possible. We’re only able to do that because of the incredible staff at Catalyst and their deep dedication to partnering with our outstanding business community to create real-world learning opportunities for students.

I have been married for 23 years to my amazing wife, Heather, and we have three children: our oldest daughter, Charley, is serving an LDS mission in San Antonio; our son, Cooper, is a senior at Farmington High and attends classes here at Catalyst; and our youngest daughter, Libby, is a cheerleader at Farmington Junior High and is currently in 8th grade.

I am truly honored to be part of the great work happening at Catalyst, and I’m excited to get to know our students, families, and business partners who make this place what it is. Our goal is to provide students with professional, real-world, hands-on learning experiences that will shape them for years to come.
