
Congratulations to Mr. Eric Scholer, our our Graphic Design teacher at the Davis Catalyst Center, for being recognized as the Utah ACTE Teacher of the Year for Work-Based Learning!
Mr. Scholer's class serves high school students from the 11 DSD high schools, and helps students to use their skills in creating products and creative design solutions for individuals and businesses in our area. This collaboration with industry partners to create profession-based learning experiences for students.
His approach ensures that students gain practical skills and knowledge that are directly applicable to the workforce. Eric's use of the Adobe suite empowers students to be creative while focusing on real industry projects, thereby enhancing both student and teacher success.
Eric Scholer has demonstrated remarkable innovation in CTE through his unique approach to teaching graphic design. By integrating the Adobe suite into his curriculum, he enables students to work as professionals on actual projects for actual clients and businesses, fostering creativity and practical skills. Additionally, Eric's efforts to secure Adobe licenses for all secondary students in Utah, by inviting his own students to present how they use industry-standard software to the the Utah state legislature, highlights his forward-thinking approach to ensuring that students have access to the best tools and resources used in industry. His innovative teaching methods not only enhance student learning but also prepare them for successful careers in the digital arts and media industry.

Our Student Project Showcase is coming up on Tuesday, December 3rd, from 5-7 PM!
Students and families can come explore careers with industry leaders in several fields upstairs, while also doing a self-guided tour around the Davis Catalyst Center to meet with dozens and dozens of students to see their industry/capstone projects!
