Everything needs sound- movies, music, video games, television, websites, and so on. If you're excited about a career in audio production, the Davis Catalyst Center's Audio Production Program is for you.
In Audio Production you can learn to become proficient in many things:
Learn to record, mix, master and produce all kinds of audio.

Create and curate a podcast

Audio Essentials- Digital Audio 1
In Audio Essentials- Digital Audio 1 class students understand the basics of recording, mixing and producing content in a state-of-the-art recording studio. Students will learn to record and mix sound through hands-on assignments in some of the following areas: radio production, podcasting, live sound, studio recording, music production, etc. This course will cover the basics of audio production, Avid Pro Tools and other Digital Audio Workstations (DAW), multi-track music recording, the science of acoustics, and basic understanding of audio recording equipment.
Audio Production- Digital Audio 2
Students will continue the learning in Audio Production- Digital Audio 2 class where they will work with other students and Catalyst programs to build your portfolio and jumpstart your career in Audio. This course builds upon the basic skills from Audio Essentials. Students should deepen their understanding of Avid Pro Tools, audio production, multi-track music recording, etc. and how to correctly use audio recording equipment. Students will create original content through hands-on, real-world projects in partnership with industry and business partners. These projects could be in any of the following: Sound for film and TV, radio production, podcasting, live sound, studio recording, music production, etc.
Industry Certifications: Students can earn the Pro Tools 101 and 110 industry certifications from Avid, as well as the 210M (Music Production) industry certification from Avid.
Course pre-requisite: The recommended prerequisite is Digital Media, if available your school, but not required. Many students choose this course after having taken the Digital Media course at their local high school.
